Easter Message 2010
From:  The Rev John Challice

All the news through radio, television and newspaper is full of speculation about the outcome of the forthcoming General Election.

Each one of us has our own hopes that our lives and the lives around us will be brightened by whatever government takes us into the future.  We shall have to wait and see, but there will surely be some disappointments.

There is an event approaching that brings promise of good for each and everyone.  Easter, with news of Jesus’ triumph over evil and death, to come to new life.

So we are not wrong to place our hopes in him and his way of life.  He, like us, knew pain, suffering, sadness and disappointment.  But his way of love brought him through to the resurrection.

Therefore, like him, we too may follow the way of deeper joys, truer hopes, and better relationships on to new fulfilment for us.

It is up to us to choose and vote on Jesus’s manifesto.  There is yet more, for through these more profound ways of love we too may know the truth and power of resurrection life for ourselves and for those dear to us.

The Good News of Easter comes to us for all time.
